Dishonorable
When the professor asked “How many people know somebody in the military?”, about three-quarters of the room raised their hands, all apparently proud for being connected to the army in some way. But when he asked “How many people plan on entering the military at some point in their lives?”, nobody raised their hand.
It makes me want to be an exception. After all, how could I ever one day ask people to sacrifice their lives for this country when I myself wouldn’t do the same?
It is not something to be proud of, but it is something that is prideful.
